The government is in the process of finalising its new national development plan. The new plan is expected to be an extension of the existing plan, and will have a key focus on the following areas: educational reform; healthcare (furthering the national universal health coverage rollout, as well as free services for women and children); job creation (primarily through the development of agribusiness); digitisation (namely through the establishment of a new tech incubator); human capital development; and security. As opposed to previous years, the government is reportedly seeking to support its expanded security mandate through external funding, leaving greater domestic resources available for education and health.
